Activities for the family
The villa overlooks the beach and is within easy access of water sport facilities, a marina, zoos, marine parks, aqua playgrounds, diving, fishing, sailing, golf and horse riding. The beach is long and wide, the sea on the local beach is usually calm and safe for children to swim unlike some of the smaller beaches which surround the coastline. There are four excellent, family orientated beach cafes/bars offering good refreshments and sun umbrellas and lounge chairs if that is what is wanted. Beach volleyball and kite flying can also be seen frequently at the end of the day when the sun is going down. If one is really lucky, you will see a past Portuguese kite windsurfing champions in action on the Praia Grande beach, (the local beach). From Ferragudo quayside, a small boat will take you for a few euros across to the marina where you can enjoy more restaurants, a luxurious beach facility or just a stroll along another beach boardwalk. Great for adults and children.
Golf near Ferragudo
Already an area renowned for its golf, big game fishing, sailing and scuba diving, Portugal provides an all year round climate which facilitates the golfing fraternity. Early morning and late afternoon golf is excellent in the summer months and with the mild winter climate, there is no restriction to what time of day a round of golf can be played in the other months throughout the year. A great selection of courses are all within easy reach of our villa such as The Pinta and Gramacho courses at neighbouring Carvoeiro which is only five minutes away, as well as just a slightly longer drive to the championship course of Penina. There is over 20 courses within a 40 minute drive. Keen golfers find that the location of this villa is ideal to combine both a beach and a golfing holiday and it also works well for partners and children who do not participate in the sport. Something for everyone.
There’s also other activity for all members of the family close by; water sports, walking, horse-riding, fishing, tennis, a marine zoo and a fun water park. Scuba Diving, paragliding, sailing, water skiing and windsurfing, trips around the coastline and caves, dolphin watching or even a trip up the river to Silves, something for everyone in close proximity.
If tennis is your passion there’s the Carvoeiro Clube de Tenis at Sesmarias which is located just a short drive away from the villa.
The Arade Conference Centre and Theatre
This new multifunctional complex hosts live theatre and exhibitions. Once the old fish cannery in Parchal, (on the outskirts of Ferragudo), the landscape is imposing by the sheer nature of the architecture of this building. If you book the villa then it is worth visiting their website before going on holiday to see if there is a show, an exhibition or ballet which is of interest to you.
The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve
This is a race circuit located in Portimão, Portugal which is just a short taxi ride away from our villa. The circuit hosts FIA Formula One testing, Superleague Formula, GP2 Series, A1 Grand Prix of Nations, World Series by Renault, FIM Superbike World Championship events, FIA GT 3 European Championship, Le Mans Series 1000 km of Algarve, Euro Series 3000
