Fantastic Ferragudo
- Month of stay: OctoberWe had such a fantastic time at the villa! The week we spent there was the highlight of our month long trip. I so appreciated all of Janis’ suggestions, notes and all the info about Ferragudo. It was really helpful. Janis was amazingly thorough and emailed me many times to ensure all of my queries were answered. It was almost as if I were her personal guest.
(even though she doesn’t know me at all!)
The villa was set up so nicely…we had everything that was needed….and the pool…. Wow….the pool was truly a huge plus. The kids absolutely loved it and my son, Pierce, actually learned to swim without flotation devices during our time there. The villa was very clean, tidy and everything was orderly and easy to find.
Ferragudo is such a charming village and we really enjoyed strolling down the narrow, windy, cobblestone pathways. Our kids loved exploring the village. The gorgeous beach which the villa overlooks was fun for everyone. The playground was a huge plus.
Not too far from the villa was one of our favorite restaurants, The Piano Garden, with the delightful garden views and delicious curries. The service was outstanding.
As for activities, our young kids loved ZooMarine , in particular the dolphin show, where the emphasis was on human/dolphin interaction. We also drove to Silves…an incredible historical town. And we did a day trip to Evora to see the Cromeleque does Almendres, 100 + Standing Stones just outside the city. Wow! At 7000 years old, this magical place inspires the imagination.
We hope to go back! I would recommend this villa to anyone.

Fabulous villa – home away from home!
- Month of stay: AugustThis villa is fantastic, starting with the views past the castle and across the water to Portimao. It’s a ten minute walk to the centre of Ferragudo which is probably the most unspoilt fishing village in the Algarve with plenty of restaurants and local stores. The villa is also about two minutes walk to the fabulous main beach (which also has restaurants!).
The villa is very spacious and is spotless. It has everything you need for a very comfortable and relaxing stay, plenty of rooms, very well equipped and with a lovely pool of its own – great place for a barbie (we’re Aussies) on a warm summer evening!
Janis, the owner went well beyond the course of duty to ensure our stay was perfect, which it was. In fact we could quite happily live there!
If you a planning a family holiday to the Algarve, you should seriously think about Ferragudo, and we would thoroughly recommend staying at this villa while you’re there – you won’t be disappointed! We are back in Europe in 2011 and have already booked the villa for a week in May.

FABULOUS WEEK – despite the dust cloud.
- Date of Stay: May 2010“We had an excellent week at the villa, and cannot find any faults with the house at all. The attention to detail is incredible – nothing is missing. There were even firelighters and matches for the bbq. The housekeeper is a local woman who looks after the house and speaks fair English and is extremely helpful. The property was as seen on the photos, and the pool was very welcome. We tried a number of local restaurants recommended by Philip and Janis, and did not have a bad meal. We really enjoyed Ferragood – went there twice, Sueste – superb fish place and Kalu Beach cafe for lunch 3 times ! Toc toc has really good take away Chicken piri-piri and very cheap. 8 of us ate for 50€, and we had food left over. We would highly recommend this villa to friends and family, as we had an excellent time there.
We were unfortunate victims of the volcanic dust cloud and we were delayed by 36 hours on our return, but Philip was happy for us to stay an extra night – even if it meant sharing the house with him as he was about to arrive for his own holiday at the villa ! Could not have been more helpful to us.

- Month of stay: September 2010“My husband and I, daughter and her husband and two children age 3 years and 5 months stayed from 18th Sept-2nd Oct 2010. We had lots of boxes that needed ticking due to the age range and needs! It was perfect, in that we did not need to hire a car/the beaches are fabulous/the villa and pool perfect and maid excellent/local restaurants lovely and the weather at this time was also perfect! It was lovely to be in a traditional fishing village and eat our way through the various varieties of catch! Also great to catch a boat over to the Marina and spend a few hours over there for a change. We will be back! Jones and Owen families – Berkshire and mid Wales !”
